Has anyone been told that they are on the Clarendon 'waiting list'? It seems that in previous years applicants have been kept in the loop about their standing on the wait-list, but now I can't get anyone at Oxford to even tell me if I'm on the damn list at all! :-P

I decided to email them when the wait was too much for my nerves. To my surprise, I was waitlisted and a spot opened up for me! It still is shocking to know this.

Brief informal phone interview with PI and a decision delivered over phone a couple of weeks later, followed by official email and postal notification another two weeks later

I am offered a tuition-only position- which I immediately rejected. So good luck if the other wants can afford that!

I was removed from the waitlist yesterday-- notified by POI via email. About me as a candidate: graduated with an honors undergraduate degree in anthropology from a R1/top 5-ranked school. 5+ years of field experience. Several years of lab experience. Currently working in an academic research position and do not have any higher (i.e. Master's-level) degrees.

Was on the waitlist; was informed today that I was being considered along with three other candidates for one last tuition-only no-stipend slot, and I asked to be removed from consideration.

I was waitlisted on March 13th and found out I was accepted on April 11th. Very excited :)

I got accepted elsewhere -- looks like it backfired when I told my POI! I am pretty happy with my other offer though. Good luck everyone!!

Re: Clarendon.. I promised myself I'd post on here if I had anything helpful at all. The nice woman at the Graduate Funding Office said that if I haven't heard back from Clarendon yet not to worry just yet; they are still getting to nominations from the January pool of applicants (which includes me). So according to her, anytime from mid-late April through May is when we can expect to hear back. She also said that DPhils are not prioritized above MPhils - they try to get a nice cross-section of awardees. I hope this helps! Good luck to us all...

Apparently I did not meet the entry requirements for the program (because I don't have a MA?) The website said that most successful applicants have MA's.

Thank you to the Theology PhD student below for your helpful reporting from the ground! I have been receiving a lot of conflicting information regarding Clarendon, including from my department and the graduate funding area. No one will confirm for me whether all Clarendon decisions have been made, or whether I am on a wait-list. They just give me vague responses in return. However, a Master's applicant was told by my department admin that they believed 'all Clarendon offers have already been made'. Are you sure that Clarendon offers are still trickling out? Oxford would save themselves and their incoming students a lot of pain if they just outlined this whole process a little more clearly!! *dying*
