To the MPhil In Modern Middle Eastern Studies student - thanks for your reply and congratulations again! I was also contacted a few weeks ago by the ESRC and asked to submit a PhD proposal (200 words maximum) - which seems really short? What was your word limit for the proposal out of interest? I doubt my application was successful as I still haven't heard back - but I'm still hoping!!!

Has anyone heard about funding? I've been trying to get through to the office to ask, but no luck.

On the ESRC process - I was contacted by the Oriental Institute several weeks ago with the request to submit a DPhil proposal and then last week I was contacted by the Social Science funding coordinator with the offer of a studentship. I have not heard anything on college placement either. Good luck

Thanks to the poster below for your info. I talked to Andrew Learner, the administrative/graduate admissions officer and he told me that, if granted any financial aid, we should hear back by around April 8, 2016. Given what you said that colleges normally match awards with the department, I'm thinking that the funding opportunities are pretty set after April 8 (unless people who have already been funded decide not to enroll, which is very unlikely). Sadly, I haven't heard a single word. This is getting way too real :(

To the posters below: normally you should have already received emails from Oxford if you are being considered for the ESRC/Clarendon studentships. Usually colleges also chip in so I don't think there are any separate college funding schemes for the MPhils. Good luck!

Thrilled to the core! To those who are asking about notifications for this degree- I know of 4 others who have been accepted. They received their acceptances 5 days ago. They aren't on Gradcafe but it seems that the department is sending out emails in small chunks as all of them were notified in one ago. I think that the next round of acceptance letters would be sent after Easter Monday. Best of luck! Don't panic.

To the post below: I also applied for World Lit in Eng and still haven't received any response. I sent an email to the English dept and they told me that due to the large volume of applications received, they are taking more time than usual to send feedback and that by the end on March-beginning of April we'll all receive a notification. The chances for me to get in are very slim and at this point I just want a feedback from them.... I've heard someone already got in.

Notified on the 18th, received the formal offer on the 24th. No word about funding or college placement yet, but fingers crossed!
