Accepted for second choice, waitlisted for first choice... is this typical?

Official letter with funding details to come!

I'm American, was informed by POI at end of skype "interview" (not really an interview because he thought I'd already gotten the acceptance email), I was just waiting for email to post. Accepted for first option.

I applied to this school as an undergrad and was denied admission in 2001. More than a decade later, I applied again for my Masters, only to be denied again. I wish I knew what it took to get into this school! My admission denial came in the form of an email, which by the tactfulness of it, offers little than a few choice words that include "regret", "however" and "hope." Thank you UofA for denying me twice, your unabated rejections is not without its charm.

have to admit I'm more interested in just the MA in art history portion

I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!

Admissions offered during interview for first choice waiting on official letter.

Accepted for first option without interview.

Phone call from POI!
