"Unfortunately, we are a small department and can admit only a tiny fraction of the applicants who we know will thrive in graduate school. "

I was notified that I am not invited to campus visit and on waitlist. But my POI would like to set up a skype interview with me.

Email for interview invite on March 5-6. Invite came after prelim talk last week!

Ambitious reject. 8.13 GPA, Mumbai University, 330 GRE (169Q, 161A, 4AWA), 118 TOEFL, 5 low tier publications (2 papers, 3 chapters), 5 internships.

"near the top of a very short wait list"

Starting to lose hope after this. Why does this process have to be so cut throat?

i thought i would at least make it to the interview. bruh.

pretty short standard sounding rejection through email.

0a/2r/6p. GPA is grad.

Had a lukewarm phone conversation with POI a few months ago, so this is not entirely surprising.

I spoke to the profs and was told I had a p high chance of getting in..
