I went to the interview for the counseling program on 1/23, and the night before on 1/22 the students in the program currently had a Q&A session for applicants where I found out that every single person attending this program is miserable. Several things mentioned were "We're all suffering together," "Do NOT go to professors or advisors about anything, go to peers first because the faculty will talk about you to each other behind your back and this will change their perspective of you," and it was also shared that although this program is supposed to be heavily focused on social justice, diversity, and multiculturalism, this is the type of program that preaches those things and does not actually adhere to them in their curriculum or program. It's marketed as scientist-practitioner, but many students shared a pressure constantly put on them to focus on their research above anything else. One student even said "I would never choose this program in another life." Bottom line - even if I do get accepted I simply won't be going.

BRUTAL cycle. That's all I can say. Congratulations to everyone who has gotten interviews/offers/even waitlists at this point. If you haven't, just know you are not alone.

GPA is undergrad from a top university, 5 years clinical experience, 4 years research experience, 6 presentations, 7 leadership positions. Just wanna say that if you’re going through it right now, you’re not alone ????

Email was sent out for interview- I have no research experience just volunteer/work experience. Interviews were being offered on 1/21 and 1/28 for first round interviews. Hoping I hear back next month to see if I actually get in or not
