I received a very kind email from the Director of English that they waitlisted me for funding! I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I can't wait to hear back from them more. In case anyone is curious for the details, they told me only four people were admitted for the Funded Masters', and while they expect to be able to take some people from the waitlist, they cannot promise it since the admitted group has till April 15 to decide and it is contingent on whether they accept the offer or not. However, I was told updates would be sent to me when they are available. I also received the official decision from the university themselves on February 10. Congratulations to the four of you who were admitted, WVU is very lucky to have you all, and best of luck to my fellow waitlisted applicants! 0 Admits/1 Waitlists/6 Rejections/10 Pending

Found out by randomly checking the applicant portal at around 6 PM Pacific Time/9 PM Eastern Time. The GPA is Masters' GPA. Best of luck to everyone who applied, hope you all got in!

I received an email to check my applicant portal on February 4 at 3:16 PM Eastern Time. GPA is Masters' GPA. Best of luck to everyone who applied!

GPA is Master's GPA! Received a rejection on the portal. I was emailed to check my portal on February 3 at 11:30 AM Eastern Time. Good luck to everyone who applied!

GPA is MA. Had to make three separate accounts just to find out that "my overall profile was not competitive with other applicants." Frankly pretty disrespectful; sounds like I dodged a bullet.

Non-traditional applicant, not terribly surprised after not receiving an interview! 1a/0w/0i/2p/3r

Got a very kind email from the Director. I am really sad by this rejection as I did not make it through the grad school themselves either so my application did not make it to the English Program. I thought with another Masters already, maybe I would at least be considered, but I am thankful they considered my application still and that the Director took the time to write me a personal email. They seem like a wonderful program with how transparent they have been through the process, and I hope the rest of you who applied have a lot better luck than me. Best of luck!

Happened to check the portal by chance on February 12, 2026 around 5 PM Eastern Time and saw the rejection. Best of luck to everyone who applied!

Official letter Feb 17.

Accepted off the waitlist. (2a/3r/1w/1i/1p)

Please ignore the interview. Has anyone who is an international student heard from the department? I wonder if, in terms of order, they deal with the applications according to regions. Anxiously waiting for the results and fingers crossed.

I accepted the offer because it is my best at the moment. However, if I get a more ideal one, I will email the admission office right away and cancel it so that hopefully another excellent applicant can get in.

Shattered. Applied for the combined program of English & History of Art, but I guess it's doubly challenging as the application would be viewes by both departments. So far no acceptance.

1a/1w/2r/5p Got a letter from the GSC with a GTA offer letter.
