Anyone heard back from them yet?

Super sad. This was my second time applying - had great communication with PI (even drove from San Diego from TX to visit potential advisors), but alas no external funding received so I'm not surprised overall. Perhaps 3rd time will be the charm...

I'm one of the people who was offered an MS instead of a PhD. I'm currently completing my masters, and have relevant research experience and academic internships in the field. Applied to Cryptography group.

Contacted a professor to find out I am 2nd in line on a waitlist of 6. Only 7 admitted from California this year.

Applied for a PhD, but offered an MS without funding. Will not be taking it up.

(Plus 10 years work exp in related fields) Interviewed in early March, still hadn't heard back. Sent email. They told me I was waitlisted and gave me a general sense of where I was on the list. To the recent poster who interviewed but hasn't heard back, I would recommend reaching out to get more info- I was pleasantly surprised by their candor, and otherwise I still wouldn't know anything since they did not update the application portal.

Interviewed via Skype in February and emailed offer of admission early March.

Accepted off the waitlist! So excited about this but now I have some decisions to make

Congrats to whomever received admission. I'm still waiting for my final result after my interview on 03/25. It seems like I don't have any chance to get their admission since people who're admitted usually hear back from them within a week, but I gotta hold on my heart until I see their rejection. So painful!

I received my notice in the mail on the 22nd of March, not the 28th. I accidentally posted my acceptance twice because the site glitched and (I thought) the original post didn't show up. I sent a message declining the offer a few days ago and got a response from the department on Monday (4/4).

To the poster below who asked about SFSU acceptance deadline...I think it depends on when people turn in their COC...I turned mine in last Tuesday, then on Wednesday I got the official acceptance letter and a deadline of April 5th (which I just turned in and accepted). But I'm sure you'll get in if you're #1 on the wait list.

My top choice...oh well...

For those accepted, when is the deadline to confirm your acceptance at SFSU? I'm #1 on the waitlist and am super anxious to get an update on my status. Definitely will accept if given the opportunity :)

The waitlist status was only communicated to me after I contacted them asking for info. I received no updates about my application prior to this.
