Form letter rejection via e-mail

I'm posting this in response to some comments below. I received my acceptance Jan 25 via email telling me to check my portal which they updated to include the acceptance letter. GTA position offered with stipend, full tuition remission. I have until March 15 to accept and will do so unless Cornell speaks up. If you are on wait-list, I'm trying to hurry!

Applied with interdisciplinary poetry/visual arts interest, was invited to speak to department faculty and attend workshops on Feb 6. I applied by Jan 15 early deadline. I wasn't sure if workshop invite was a good sign bc it sounded standard, but the speaking to faculty seemed to be and they implied posi vibes around acceptance, asking me to keep in touch with other offers. I heard from admissions counselor that notifications will go out first week of March with financial aid packages.

They sent an email saying that my writing sample "has started winding its way through the admissions committee."

This is my first response from any school and they said they will notify me about the GTA in a separate letter. Funding is of absolute importance to me. Still waiting from nine other schools!

I received a warm email that was also realistic about the competitiveness of funding. They should be sending out funding decisions "in a few weeks."

Actually, if you do a historical search, the MFA in Fiction acceptances does phone calls, whereas in Poetry people who are accepted are sent "nice e-mails." In any event, the corresponding time for fiction phone calls is this coming weekend and into the beginning of next week. One word of advice, though, if you are a woman, and applying for poetry, consider it a favor if you are rejected. I have known three women who have gone through that program (IWW MFA Poetry), and it didn't end well for them.

US citizen living abroad, notified via email due to potential postal delay. Grateful they were considerate. Applied there to build out the list, so not too upset about this one. Already in at one of my top schools :) Also of note: this may mean Pittsburgh reads US citizens abroad as international applicants. Fairly unusual; their undergraduate programs manage the international pool differently.

Got my first rejection yesterday so this is a dream
