Applied with an MSc. (GPA 3.77) from an out-of-state institution. BSc GPA 3.71. 3 years of research, one pending publication. International students are harder to get admitted.

Email stated that they received a large amount of applications and has to turn away many students to ensure a small class size so everyone can pick the right research group for them. Email also said they are accepting 5-10% of people that applied. I appreciated the email!

To people who get offers already, did you receive an email to reminding checking the status on the website and then found the website saying "your intended program/plan of study has completed the first step of the admission process and has offered you admission pending an eligibility review by the graduate school" Is it a normal process and when did you get the official letter from the department? Thank you!

rejected without interview

Organic Chem, 3.5 years research experience, 3 months summer research in a very famous group, focus on organic synthesis methodology and organic material. More than 5 papers as co-author (2nd/3rd/4th author) on Angew/JACS/NatCom. 3 papers as (co-)first in submission and post on ChemRxiv. Several papers in preparation and submission. Maybe recommendation letters (at US) are much more important than publications.

Organic. Notified of interview 12/23. Rejected tonight. Painful

Physical/theoretical chemistry, had one interview first week of January and then didn't hear anything until email today

GPA 3.44. One year teaching and research experience. Three strong recommendation letters. No GRE.

One year research experience, no pubs, 3.79 GPA, 2/3 strong LORs

Unofficial offer from PI, formal offer letter expected this week. Interviewed a few days ago. No pubs, 3 research experiences, 3 good LORs.

not surprised

Received an email from POI on 22nd Jan.. And received the admission letter on system today. My preference choice, although it's not the top university I apply for, still so exciting! Will confirm it soon. Average GPA, 4 publications (3 first author, and one of them published, one of them's revision just submitted, and the last one is under academic writing) in 3.5 years research experience, poster on international IUPAC conference, 3 issued patents, with 3 strong LORs. Interdisciplinary background in 4 research fields. Having a average GRE but didn't submit it (this year's policy do save time and money, hhhhhh).

Yet another rejection. Sad :(
