Low income student, went to state school because it was my only option financially. Won my university's undergrad CS prize, 5 pubs in mid-tier AI conferences (3 first author), and graduated summa cum laude. My letter writers were probably not "prestigious" enough? Not sure. Not sure what else I could have done given the opportunities available to me...

5 papers and 2 posters. international, FLI student. area: HCI. academia is a place only for the privileged kids.

ML theory, 3.72 GPA, 2 publications under review

Congrats for the MS&E PhD offer!! Which research area?

Rejected without interview.

Sad, but not surprised. Congrats to the admits!

Strong LORs from well known faculty, 1 pub in a mid-tier journal, top 20 CS program for undergrad. 3.97 GPA, high GRE, and many projects in AI/ML area.

Field: HCI

Area: security. No papers. Strong LORs, though professors are probably unknown to Stanford. Undergraduate degree from a major public university in the US with >3.95 GPA. No GRE.

To the person who received an offer for the MS&E PhD program, what concentration did you get into? Were you also asked to submit a transcript before/after the interview? Thanks.

Nlp two first author conference papers, few workshop papers.

CMU graduate with above average GPA. I was applying with 6 publications (First or second author) 2 in top-tier conferences and won a best paper award in ACL for one of my papers. Got a generic rejection email.
