Received decision via email: "We regret to inform you that we are unable to admit you for graduate study in the School of Public Health. For the Fall 2013 class, the competition was keen and decisions were difficult to make. We had more applications than ever and are limited in the number of students we may enroll each year; many well-qualified applicants could not be offered admission."

Several years of RA work, international experience, UN postings, etc.; no funding was offered

I got a random email from the department with the subject 'some additional information about Baltimore/John Hopkins Department of Biostatistics' that just had a bunch of links in it. I went and checked my status online and it had been updated today.

MSPH form letter. Top Choice, but was definitely a reach.

GPA is from M.S. Epidemiology program.

The University of Arizona employs a two-step admissions process. We are notifying you that you have made it through the first step, which was to be selected for admission by the College of Public Health faculty Admissions Committee. The second step is for the Graduate College to approve our recommendation. The Graduate College will verify that you have earned (or are in the process of earning) a bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four year institution and that you maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher during your academic career.....This verification will be based on your SOPHAS application. Once the Graduate College has reviewed your application, you will receive formal notification of admission to the University of Arizona from the Graduate College. This process can take up to six weeks.
