I'm thrilled! My profile: Very offbeat undergrad institution, but good academic record. GRE = strong verbal, average writing, disappointing quant. Strong LOR, two from people that work at UT. 10 years of work experience. However, I have no doubt that it was my SOP carrying me. I have passionate, highly distinct and timely research interests. This is the only place I applied.

NOT A JOKE! Terrible undergrad GPA but strong SOP and three strong LORs, plus a supplemental essay explaining personal trauma that impacted my GPA in college. 7 years of work experience in politics. I've received a conditional acceptance that requires that I keep my grades at a B or higher my first semester and I do not drop any classes.

Email from admissions director: "The clear decisions have been delivered (positive and negative). The Admissions Committee are examining the remaining applications for other possible admits, but they are not yet ready to make additional decisions. We hope to get all of the decisions out by the end of February."
