already rejected but got an email saying "We received nearly 300 applications for 25 openings this year and, as a result, were unable to admit a large number of very highly qualified applicants. Your application was truly outstanding. We are simply limited by the small size of our graduate program."

I got the same letter from UNC. It makes me feel a little better that they sent something a bit more personal, but I wonder if they sent it to everyone they rejected?

I got that e-mail from UNC Chapel Hill too. Nice, I guess? "It's not you, it's me".

I sent a general inquiry to the department sec. and received a response from the director. Said that they just made decisions this week.

I got the "exceptional" e-mail too! It was very strange in that it was obviously written to lots of people. "Some of you blah blah blah." Was everyone's application exceptional, UNC, was it?

So I was rejected from UNC back at the end of Feb. But, I just received an email with an attached letter telling me that I had a "truly exceptional" application and that the reason they didn't accept me was because they had 300 applicants and only 25 spots. Did anyone else get an email like this?

I am SO excited! This was my top choice, and I've already put down my enrollment deposit! =) I can't wait until the fall!

Emailed to ask about the status of my application. Funding decision to come.

Notified via email from admissions staff member. Website is still having problems with notifications. I am so excited!

I emailed the department. Formal notice from the graduate school is forthcoming. MsPH to PhD.

Interviewed with two different profs; was told I had a chance! At least when I got rejected before they sent it via postage!
