E-mailed department directly; had not seen a single update online but did receive an optimistic call from a professor in February.

Received a phone call in February from a professor stating they "would love to have me!" but have yet to see an update online or receive a letter.

Letter dated 03/11/2009. With three DHL postings was the most expensive application. Also it was the only school who asked for financial certificate which cost 2 extra precious days to obtain just before the final exams. Anyway I am already admitted to a higher ranked school with a very nice offer. Had believed Emory faculty I was interested in was a very good match for me though.

Emailed DGS, got a nice response: "We had held onto your application a little longer than some others because it was of higher quality than the others we rejected and so we included it in a kind of informal "waiting list" category." Still, couldn't offer me a place in the end :(

Not really surprised. I heard they only have 3 slots this year. Congrats on selling your Coca Cola stock a few years ago and losing 20-30% of your endowment, Emory.

". . . declined your application for admission." That's a fairly novel wording. Go Emory!
