Is anyone declining their offer from UNC? Asking from the waitlist with no other offer yet. Thanks a lot!

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything from the program yet?

Received an email to check my status. The letter said the reason for the decision is that I am "Noncompetitive." Considering I have an MA in SOC with a 3.925/GPA, six publications, a teaching award, and strong recommendations, I would say I am at least somewhat competitive, lol. I am not in any way saying I am entitled to an offer. Not at all. I will accept any rejection with humility and move forward. But saying I am "Non-competitive" is not only unprofessional, it is also humiliating and rude. Just my opinion.

TTPB: Could you please tell us how you were notified? Via direct email from the department, or the portal? Thanks a lot!

To the poster below: yes, I have received detailed funding information. The department provides $29500 fellowhip for 5 years and $3500 for summer support.

Email to check the portal where I received a general rejection letter. Congrats to all those admitted!

For those having been accepted into NYU, have you received the offer letter and detailed funding information? Or is it just an email from the DGS?

Knew this was coming so not too disappointed, 1a/1r/2p

Email to check the website. I applied to the JDP so still holding out hope for that one!

Email to check the portal. Standard rejection notice.

Randomly checked the website and found a generic rejection. Unsurprising since we already know that they sent out acceptance and waitlist offers. Best of luck to everyone as we wait for the rest of our decisions! 1a/2r/4p

Generic email. No hard feelings here. Best of luck to everyone!
