I was waitlisted last year as well and so it might help for other waitlisters to know that you should be able to find out how many people received offers, their target number of students, how many people were waitlisted and how you rank in the waitlist. (The first two can be helpful to know in terms of how many people can reject their offers before the waiting list is considered.)

Waitlist for MSt in English and American Studies! Would love any info on what my chances are for getting off the waitlist.

19thC British, was accepted 1/31. Just let them know I would NOT be attending. Reach out to the program if waitlisted! Open house is early March.

Got an interview request via e-mail, and met through Zoom with 2 profs

African-Americanist, rejection, sad.

Saw it coming. Not the best fit.

Not interview. I want to know whether anyone got a rejection letter from PhD program in English at Columbia. I saw some people were accepted. I have not got my result yet. Wondering if I was rejected or on the waitlist.

The worst $140 I've ever spent.

In good company, it would seem! Expected outcome, etc. 1a/2r/2p.

"It is with regret that we write to inform you that you have not been accepted for graduate study at the University of California, Berkeley. The materials you submitted with your application have been carefully reviewed by the admissions committee, but we are unable to offer you admission. The UC Berkeley campus has a strict enrollment ceiling, and we are thus very limited in the number of new students we may admit each year. The admissions committee has the difficult task of selecting students with the strongest overall records from a large pool of well-qualified applicants. Unfortunately, this may result in not being able to accept many applicants who are capable of excellent academic work." Like everyone else, I knew this was coming. Weirdly ok Hope others are too. 1a/2r/1p

Who sends a rejection at 8:20pm on a Tuesday? 0a/7r/4p, godspeed

Me too... 0a/3r/4p

Knew it was coming but still disappointed--especially receiving it so late at night! Congrats to those who got in, and best of luck to everyone!

Disappointed. Feel blank.
