To the poster asking about my Columbia acceptance, it was an email from one of the professors there that included both the notification of acceptance and the offer of financial aid, along with some general info. Apparently they're normally supposed to notify via phone but the professor in charge of fiction is in Korea until next week so they're doing it this way. My last name starts with F (I'm also the guy who followed up about the Virginia rejection--definitely made that less of a blow)

Got a call from Jim, the director of the program. It was a verbal green light from him and I should receive an official email from the graduate school tomorrow. Funding is not completely solidified yet, he said he'd know by April 1st. This is my first acceptance and I was so relieved to get that call. 1a/4r/0w
