Sincerely, Rose Marie Ward Interim Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School After I responded that I did not even have my 2nd recommendation letter in she writes: "Thank you for your application to our program. It was a competitive pool of applications for the program. Determining acceptance acceptance into the program is always a difficult decision and based on many factors. Unfortunately, we were unable to offer you to the program at this time." Not even good program, I could care less. :)

Rejected via letter in the mail. Flat, unemotional letter. First rejection. Didn't realize how depressing it would feel.

(New Writer's Project) From Matthew Satterfield: "Thank you for your interest in the New Writers Project at the University of Texas at Austin. We are sorry to report that we are unable to offer you admission at this time. As a small and highly competitive program, we're able to accept only a tiny percentage of our applicant pool, and in deciding amongst hundreds of files, we realize that some talented and worthy applicants have been denied admission. Thank you for submitting your work. We wish you the best in your future writing." Seems like a basic rejection -- not surprised by this one

I still don't know how to react. But my chances of getting in are pretty slim... who turns down Cornell ;_;

I got a voicemail from Bret Anthony Johnston and have been screaming into a pillow for a couple hours. This is my second application season. This is the only program I applied to. This is the most surreal feeling.

I think folks get the idea that rejections went out, but glad to be in such good company

Just honored to be a part of this bloodbath.
