Rejected for M.M. in Music Composition. Received an email that directed me to a stock rejection on the app. portal.

prescreening results

Rejected at prescreening for M.M. in Composition.

Columbia's Dept. of Music has announced that they will not be taking graduate applications for Fall 2021.

Accepted after a waitlist for funding.

I wrote to the department directly on April 17th. The department did not respond, but on April 21st I received an automated email telling me that a decision had been made and to check the portal. I am not convinced that my application was ever considered. The admissions department received GRE scores and official transcripts electronically late November but did not update my account until late February when I noticed that they were listed as incomplete in the portal. I emailed admissions and they were able to find them in the system and updated my application. I only double checked after reading a similar story on Grad Cafe earlier that day.

DMA - Accepted with fellowship. Ecstatic!
