I have been rejected by the top two school I applied for(Stanford and Berkeley). I don't know how to do. It depresses me a lot. I feel it from bad to worse.

"In response to your application to graduate study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley for the Fall Semester 2007, we regret to inform you that we are unable to recommend your admission due to the large number of outstanding applications that were received and our limited enrollment allotment."

only 6 spots for 140 applicants, ouch

I phoned Berkeley a couple of days ago and they told me no acceptances had gone out yet and that decisions would be made by the end of the month...

I called Berkeley almost two weeks ago, and they said they had sent out first round acceptances the week before, but wouldn't have anything definitive for anyone else until the end of the month.

I emailed prog coordinator to ask about my app status

Emailed to Gail Vawter. He told that final decisions have been made. They have a record number of appications this year. The official letters may take time to send out.

One less spot for the rest of you.

Just got a response back from Gail saying that I was not accepted and that letters were in the process of going out right now, so not much longer for the more patient among us. 3 of 5 (now batting only .600), only 4 more innings to go.
