Re: Clarendon.. I promised myself I'd post on here if I had anything helpful at all. The nice woman at the Graduate Funding Office said that if I haven't heard back from Clarendon yet not to worry just yet; they are still getting to nominations from the January pool of applicants (which includes me). So according to her, anytime from mid-late April through May is when we can expect to hear back. She also said that DPhils are not prioritized above MPhils - they try to get a nice cross-section of awardees. I hope this helps! Good luck to us all...

I had mailed my department and just received a reply which said that the Clarendon scholarship decisions have been made and if I haven't heard from them, that means my application was unsuccessful :(

I got accepted but without funding oxford is impossible for me. Do you know if all Clarendon funding has already been allocated? I emailed the admissions person from my department and she told me she doesn't know. Do you know when the colleges and departments allocate their funding?

To the poster below who is waiting for news from the Weidenfeld-Hoffman scholarship, I received an email from them a few weeks ago outlining the instructions for interviews IF I get shortlisted. Considering the fact that interviews are supposed to take place at the end of the month, I suspect that I was not selected in the first round. Can anyone shed light on this? Did you also get that email?

Hi, I was interviewed today by my oxford supervisor and he said that it is likely that my decision will be sent until next week (17-21 April)

I was admitted last year and now I'm waiting for funding news. Anyone here knows about funding offers from the Geography Department? I also applied for the Weidenfeld - Hoffman scholarship. Waiting to hear from them (hopefully!)

Just wondering if anyone here has received any news from BSG about Clarendon or BSG managed scholarships?

Regarding the Clarendon, here is how I am pretty sure it works: they send out their first round of scholarship offers in late March/early April (the different divisions may send out offers on different dates, but I was notified on March 23 or 24). People have until a specified date to decide (my decision date was April 5th). Then, they send out a second round of offers, depending on how many people accepted in the initial round. And so on. I think this is how it works with at least some other scholarships, such as maybe the Ertegun. The whole funding process at Oxford seems to be ridiculously opaque and the university bureaucracy would be well-advised, I think, to be more upfront about the process with applicants, for everyone's sake.

Thank you to the Theology PhD student below for your helpful reporting from the ground! I have been receiving a lot of conflicting information regarding Clarendon, including from my department and the graduate funding area. No one will confirm for me whether all Clarendon decisions have been made, or whether I am on a wait-list. They just give me vague responses in return. However, a Master's applicant was told by my department admin that they believed 'all Clarendon offers have already been made'. Are you sure that Clarendon offers are still trickling out? Oxford would save themselves and their incoming students a lot of pain if they just outlined this whole process a little more clearly!! *dying*

On the ground here. Funding info is trickling out (at Oxford, funding involves a few more committee decisions than in the States). I've just been rejected for a studentship via email. Clarendon and Ertegun info should be out soon...
