TTPB: Thanks for the suggestion but it looks just some weird naming they follow. Though it says "1/2 time RA", stipend is coming out close to other grad schools, so looks like nothing to worry about. Waiting for results from a couple of other preferred grad schools.

TTPB in Purdue ECE: Congrats, but don't accept just a half GRA. Ask for a full one, maybe bluff by saying you have another offer for a full one. A half GRA for a PhD student is not enough and unfair.

To previous asker: sure! I'm in machine learning (I also applied to the CS and Stats PhD but haven't heard back from those yet). The interview was pretty informal. They asked about my research interests, what I do in my current job (specifically, I work in applied ML research so they asked about different ML-based challenges I've had to work with on different problems), and what math or math-heavy courses I took in undergrad and if there were any topics that piqued my interest. I also asked about some of their different projects and some general questions about the program. It seemed to go well—they said they would be in touch shortly but no specifics as to when.
