A really kind rejection, IMO! The message came from dept. admin and said "The committee appreciated the opportunity to review your credentials, and felt that you deserved a word directly from the department." congrats to all who got accepted!

TTPB: Thanks! I applied for GEO track. However, during the open house I was told admission was determined holistically in the department rather than divided between tracks.
