Personal email from POI (JS) for a preliminary interview next week (possible dates she listed were 1/18 - 1/20; email read as if everyone invited for a preliminary interview was bcc'd). She said in the email she'd then be inviting 3-5 applicants to their virtual interview day on February 18th and ultimately plans to offer admission to 1-2 applicants. No indication if other PIs are extending preliminary interview invites.

TTPB: Both of these schools seem to have started reviewing applications before the deadline. It is impossible for them to look at all applications in a week.

TTPB: Does UW interview all admits? If someone doesn't get an interview by end of Jan, is that a rejection?

A current UW CS PhD student here answering the question posted below about status. CS department doesn't work on Grad App login page so the status shown there means nothing in terms of application review. Most of the ~2500 apps have been reviewed in the first round and we are slowly starting our interviews as posted below. This will last up to last week of Jan, so don't freak out. All the best.

TTPB for UW PhD interview: once you received your interview, did your status on the "Grad App Login" page change to sth other than "submitted". Mine has been that way since I applied and was wondering whether that means my applications hasn't even been looked at yet?
