Glad that you have quite a few options, but please take the conversation on placements somewhere else, like urch

I'm also seriously leaning towards MIT since placement is consistently stronger. Also heard that advisors generally care more about students

I am still waiting, lol! Even had an interview. I think I am probably rejected from everywhere else too. Haven't heard anything yet. :')

How many here are waiting for Harvard's rejection email just to get a closure? :D

Anyone else thinking to defer due to Covid-19 disruption in Fall 2021/immigration issues?

TBP: It's a tough decision, but I am also inclining to MIT. The placement is generally better (at least in my field).

TPB: Only waitlisted at Harvard, but I'm most likely going to withdraw my name from the waitlist b/c I prefer MIT/Stanford over Harvard given my research interests.

To Harvard / MIT cross admits: which one are you leaning toward?

TPB: To corroborate the previous post, the exact language was "Due to a university-wide policy, we were only able to admit around a quarter of our usual class size this year". On the other schools, I don't think that Stanford's target cohort size was cut. During the visit day, which included waitlisted candidates, the faculty said that they had to waitlist more candidates than usual b/c the university wanted to avoid admitting too many people. They never said that they wanted a smaller total cohort. Looking into the claim about MIT's cohort size. I don't know anything about Chicago though.

I can't believe it!!

waitlisted due to the capacity constraints related to COVID-19.

Forgot to mention this. The calls earlier from Harvard were likely real. The reason why there were so few calls is that, based on the waitlist email, only 1/4 of the normal class size was admitted due to a university-wide policy at Harvard.
