When I was offered an interview, they mentioned that the strike among UK universities is impacting their schedule somewhat. After my interview, they said they were hoping to get back to me next week.

I interviewed last week. Very technical. The strike meant they were not flexible with interview schedules, I had mine at 5 am my time. I expect to hear in two weeks probably after they get the pool of March applicants. I applied for the January deadline and heard from them exactly one month after submission. Hope that was helpful, and no to fake news!

Anyone heard from Geography and the Environment - specifically the ECM course? Is it worth emailing them to ask do you think?

So less applicants to social data science program. I could never see any posts for it, most are for social science of the internet and the DPhil. So worrid.

Hi, has anyone received any news from OII. I really dont know whether some posts here are real or not. Really hope there could be some useful information. Although I have contacted the department we will hear before 16th, i think we will hear within these two weeks according to previous years. Good luck to everyone.

Hi to the person asking waitlist below: have you been waitlisted? I think waitlist is different from re-evaluated. only after all the deadlines passed, there would be waitlist, or there would only be re-evaluated stuff.

How exactly does wait-listing work? The accepted candidates are to confirm/reject their application which decides the status of waitlisted students? Or does the admission committee reassess applications? Also, are DPhil candidates ever accepted without interviews?

Received a letter of invitation to a welcome event which also says I've been accepted. I hope others have been lucky, too.

Sorry to be unclear. It was not an official email that went out from OII; I contacted my prospective supervisor, who confirmed that my application had been rejected. This particular supervisor was on strike at the end of last week, but not at the beginning of this one. It was kind of them to let me know.

To the poster below: not just people who applied to Worcester, I applied to a different college (and different course) and still got the email. I think it's safe to assume that it's a generic email sent out to all applicants for the programmes it mentioned, regardless of college choice. Don't think it's a sign of anything, sadly :(

To the poster below. I received the same e-mail. I believe you get it when you have applied to Worcester for a degree in Governance and Politics. I also hope it is a good sign, but it's not likely :D

I had posted earlier saying I was rejected for a studentship but my admission decision was pending. I finally got accepted today. I have alternative funding from an external sponsorship

To the poster below: strike doesn't affect admission decision. Not to mention that the vast majority of Oxford's staff is not on strike. I'm studying here.
