email about new status on portal

An unexpected, one-liner, straight-to-the-point (????????????) email from the DGS, informing me that my name "was not in the shortlist that we created in collaboration with our partner departments/programs (whose approval we need for dual students)." No good luck wishes, no appreciation for any effort, no nothing. Just a signature. Nothing on the application portal and no official notification yet.
