Generic rejection. hep ex.

Hep-Ex; no pubs, 1.5 years of relevant research + an REU in accelerator in physics. Current research advisor had some nifty connections

Feeling very grateful! Applied for environmental engineering (hydrology and water resources), following 3 years of work experience, with letters of rec from 2 former professors and 2 work supervisors. I'll be studying part-time through the SCPD program.

hep-th (quantum gravity / cosmology). To be honest, I am thankful that I have been admitted to HPMS but I am feeling a bit lost as to whether to pursue hep-th or a PhD at all (I am considering jobs unrelated to physics). I have had professors explicitly discouraging me from pursuing quantum gravity and have met jaded PhD graduates of the most famous hep-th professors (when I was interning in the industry). My own experiences in hep-th have been intellectually fulfilling but it is sometimes difficult to tell if my work is related to the real world---the essence of physics seems to be missing. I have started looking at CMT (especially topological materials) but it still seems to have limited applicability in practice. To the applicants out there, how did you know you wanted to pursue a PhD and what are your post-PhD plans? For the hep-th applicants out there, why do you want to do hep-th?

Ignore waitlist. Have all bioscience programs released admit decisions after interviews?

Master's GPA: 4.2, 3 publications What I was disappointed by more than anything was the complete lack of response from potential supervisors. Even Cambridge gave my application more attention than Stanford. Still grateful for the opportunity to apply, and I wish everyone the best:)) You've got this!!!

I am a US citizen but did my high schooling and undergrad in India. I had an interview with 1 of my faculty of interest in January. I thought it had gone okay as our interests were very much aligned. Questions were very specific about my prior research and some future ideas. My other faculty of interest met with with me and gave me the news of my acceptance the day before I got the official email.
