Just received a call from Deborah Landau! 1a/1r/5p

Received a mail from one of the Professors, saying I was accepted and that they understood I might have applied to other places and that they were happy to be one of my options now! Have to confirm before the 15th of April or sooner if they award a GAship. Assistantship is a separate procedure altogether and is not awarded automatically.

My first acceptance after 3 years of rejections and wait lists. The head of the department was deeply kind—he said they were 'enthralled' with my work. I look forward to hearing about funding as this is a big first choice for me!

Nice phone call so far 3a/1w/2r/5p

Phone call from Deborah Landau. She was highly complimentary. But the best part? She said Jeffrey Eugenides in particular liked my work. I'll be smiling about that one for a while. This acceptance came after 2 years of being waitlisted by NYU.

first acceptance!!!

To the person who asked if NYU acceptances are still going out: I got a very kind email from the dept informing me that they wanted to share "some good news" but that a component of my application was missing (it got lost in the mail, I suppose). So don't lose hope!

Does anyone know anything about UTK's waitlist? Is it pooled or rank, how many people are on it, etc?

Cross-posted to Draft

I'm thinking there must still be a bunch of NYU calls going out for Fiction. Does anyone know if this is true?

Not too upset because I knew it was a reach. Weirdly heartening to see everyone else on here, just to know I’m not alone.

1a/1w/1r/4p Also - a dude I know got into Iowa last weekend, so if you haven't gotten a call then be ready to take the L and keep going.

I was sent a standard but very nice rejection email this morning. It was definitely a reach school for me so I'm not surprised!

Good luck everyone
