Hi! Has anyone heard from the admissions office? I believe the admissions should be out shortly based on past data

hep-th. I would have only dreamed of this...

Never fun to be rejected, but that is okay! Congrats to everyone who got in :)

Biophysics. Unofficial offer from department.

Hep-th.

Below average GREs, otherwise an ok app that improved int the weeks after Princeton's painfully early Dec. 1 deadline. Email was as follows: "Your application for admission to Princeton University's Graduate School for the 2020-21 academic year indicates a promising ability to succeed in the graduate program and has been reviewed favorably by Department of History. Unfortunately, because of the large number of well-qualified applicants and the small number of program openings, it is not possible to offer you admission at this time. However, in the coming weeks that may change. We have placed your name on a waiting list and are reserving a final decision until we know whether we will be able to make additional offers of admission to Department of History ..." I've read that these offers rarely come.

Joining the club of Princeton rejects - not surprised after all the acceptances went out over the last few days.

Same polite email as copy-pasted below. Good luck!

Definitely a bummer. Very high stats, etc., but with Princeton nothing is guaranteed. Congrats to the admits!

Generic rejection via email. Not surprising as it’s the top program in the country! Glad I’ve got a good school in my back pocket though🤞🏼

Thank you for applying to Princeton University's Graduate School for the 2020-21 academic year. While I assure you that the materials you submitted were carefully reviewed by the faculty in the Department of History, I regret to inform you that the department did not recommend your admission for the coming academic year. The number of admission offers available at Princeton for entering graduate students is extremely limited, and we cannot offer admission to all applicants who are well qualified. Indeed, many departments consistently have applicants who would be admitted without hesitation if additional resources were available. Our decisions take into account not only the applicants' merits but also the suitability of the programs to the candidates' expressed interests. Our goal is to achieve a sound match between the strengths of our programs and the interests of the relatively small number of outstanding students that can be accommodated. I wish you success in your plans for graduate study and thank you for considering Princeton University.
