Generic rejection email

Email from the graduate officer, was originally in my junk folder. Stats: GPA 3.5, major GPA 3.7 3 years research exp, one summer industry petchem internship.

Didn't take GRE, never spoke with any PIs before application. Got an email from my top choice PI that I was accepted and formal notification will come in the next few days.

Worked/ing in industry for 1.5 years, 1 middle author publication, 3 research symposiums, 3 years academic research.

4.0 GPA Biochemistry BS. Currently a PREP Student. No publications. ABRCMS poster award uploaded to application.

Had an interview in December that seemed to be very positive and talked about potential future at UChicago, so the rejection was a surprise. Got an email to check application status and I knew it was bad news. The other schools I've gotten accepted to have sent an acceptance directly from someone in the department.

Had an interview. They mostly asked the same questions as the application form.

I found out on the 24th when they sent me an email regarding a change in status on my application. However, the letter that is under Decision Documents was written apparently on the 21st. It's possible it was there ever since the 21st, but I did not see it. So if you are awaiting a decision, you have to open the application and there will be a status update and an icon of an envelope “Decision Documents.” Your application status when logging in will stay as submitted regardless.
