My specialization is Theory(algorithms or ML Theory). Got 2 rejs in a row today. sigh.

ML theory, 3.7 GPA, 2 publications under review

Got an email from department that I was accepted into the MS in statistics program. I applied on 12/20 and heard back today!

GRE 335, gpa 3.97, 3 years research experience, several publications, no interview

We received over 2400 applications this year and were not able to admit all competitive applicants. The Graduate Admissions Committee evaluated the applications very carefully and had to make difficult decisions, denying admission to many excellent candidates because of the limited number of available slots.

3 first author papers (one in Nature Machine Intelligence) plus 7 or so middle author papers, 4 years research experience at Stanford and 2 years during my undergraduate, good gpa (89,5% avg), horrendous GRE score though (156 or something, first standardized test I ever took :/). Research area is AI/ML + Comp Bio

1 Top-tier conference paper first author. No interview from any POI.
