This is the rejection week....I got one per day until now

IIT undergrad, 8.6/10 GPA, currently writing a research paper (2nd author) with UIUC professor. Another tier-1 publication (3rd author) with a similar ranking school. Both professors encouraged me for a PhD but I applied for MS instead. Rejected from both schools. I should have applied for a direct PhD. Best of luck to everyone! Bye gradcafe.

Somewhat inappropriate the amount of time they kept us waiting. At least they offered application waivers.

This semester we received a large number of applications for entry into our graduate program. Most of these applicants are well qualified for study and research at the graduate level. However, because of our limited instructional and research facilities we are not able to admit all qualified applicants. I think most people waiting at this point (including me) are rejections. There's been plenty of people on here that posted acceptances and I also know someone in real life that got the acceptance. Berkeley sends rejections after the admits so this isn't anything new.
