GPA 4.08/4.30 , no GRE, 3 summer research (1 each summer, 2 at home university in Asia, 1 overseas), no publications, 2 posters and 2 presentations at local college student conferences, tutor for first-year undergrad science course, 4 good LoR (1 from renowned professor in my field)

I was expecting it since I didn't hear back when interviews were going out. 1 year research, 2 upcoming conferences, and 2 years tutoring part time

1.5 years of research, no GRE, no publications, 3 strong LORs, contacted POI beforehand

Chem Engg. undergrad. 2 Publications(Cumulative IF: 6.7). 1 Pending Patent. 8 National/International Conferences. No GRE. Contacted Professor before applying.

Liberal arts degree, two solid LORs, two glowing (one from a respected academic in my concentration). Three publications (including a textbook chapter), three presentations. Been in intermittent contact with POI, was even invited to tour his lab prior to application season. General rejection letter. Huge blow.
