Has anyone applied to Ph.D. in Machine Learning in the School of Interactive Computing and waiting to hear back? I mailed them a week back and they said they are still reviewing the applications. (not Ph.D. in CS with ML/AI track)

From newly established uni. Took a gap year. Interned at a visual group in tech company. More than two research experience. One paper submitted but not as 1st author. All academic work focused on vision & ML. Strong LoRs. Actually surprised. Good luck to everyone.

+ 3yr of work exp at San Jose. Congrats to those who got admitted.

To all those claiming the committee accepted undeserving applicants for diversity - I tick most of the diversity checkboxes with better stats than some of the accepted applicants and didn't get in. Not sure how they rank applications, but this seems random.

Dejected. ML specialization, CGPA: 9.11, GRE 331, TOEFL 113, 1 International Publication, 18 months of work experience, strong LORs. Don't know what went wrong.

Rejection at the end of a loonnng letter. Should have mentioned in the first line "Sorry for the...". Wouldn't have read the damn whole thing!!

officially done with this season. SO BLOODY TRAUMATIZING. AND COVID-19 DID NOT MAKE IT ANY BETTER. Even with a good offer in hand, don't know if it'll happen coz of the virus. This is just plain sad.

TTPB my I ask why are you choosing Mass over Columbia and UCSD??

Happy that I had offers from Mass, Columbia and UCSD. Probably gonna end up in Mass. :)

TTPB: I absolutely agree, all they care about is their diversity quota and zero regard for anyone who instead is working insanely hard to get in.

Mass rejects as expected. Waiting for UC San Diego, mostly a reject as well lol. Congrats to the people who got it.
