Expected; don't have a strong background in neuroscience and UCSF doesn't have very much by way of faculty doing what I mentioned being interested in. Think it would've been a poor fit, so I'm glad people who are a better fit got the interview offers. Mostly just applied because I automatically got a fee waiver for being an EXROP alumni. Congratulations to those who got an interview offer, and best of luck!(:

I know this would happen since they accept a very small number of international students(international unfriendly). However, it's a great school. Worth a try.

I sent emails to ask if they would send out more invitations. They told me “ Unfortunately, the committee has met and all invitations for interviews have gone out. We appreciate your interest in our program and apologize for not being able to offer you a spot at interviews. We wish you the best of luck and hope you have a happy holiday season.”

I knew this would happen cause they only accept one international student. I guess they screened internationals differently that every aspect of an international applicant should be strong to pass the screen.

Email to check application status change. Generic rejection email: "I regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you admission to graduate study at the University of California, San Francisco. Each year, the number of qualified applicants to our programs far exceeds the number of new students who may be accommodated, resulting in an extremely competitive admission process. Please be assured that your application received careful review by the graduate program admissions committee."

Sent an email earlier this week asking about the status of my application and they informed me that I would not be receiving an interview. Low undergrad GPA due to some personal things and average GRE scores. Wasn't a super good fit anyway.

Emailed adcom a few days ago to ask status of application, said that they already reached out to everyone they wish to interview and application will be updated in a few weeks.

To the previous posters applying for Neuroscience PhD at UC Berkeley: Do you guys receive interview invitation from the POIs or from the program office? Thanks!

(Could other international students share some stats about him/herself pls) Very excited. Never thought I would hear from UCSF. 3 years undergrad research, 1 co-first author paper, several other papers. Over 2 years of thesis M.Sc research in a top university, 1 first-author paper, another in preparation. High TOEFL score. Several studentships during M.Sc and conferences, posters. In-person interview in Feb.
