Got a rejection email today, ug gpa 3.81/4 masters gpa 3.71/4. Wasn't expecting to get in anyways so not too disappointed.

To the poster below: Over the history of reported admits on this website, there is at least one other person who was offered the master's in lieu of the PhD. What school is a better fit that you mentioned?

1a/2w/3.5?? r(no to phd, admitted to masters) /4p this was the school was offered masters. i dont wanna take up tons of posts but did this happen w anyone else...? im not going to take bc i have an offer at a better fit but...makes rejection taste less sour lol

0a/1w/4r/5p; theory subfield. Losing all hope .-.

Hello, I was the poster who was rejected today. No formal interview procedure but they recommended I meet/at least talk with a potential supervisor before and during the application process.

To the admitted poster at Comparative Literature at U of T below, congratulations!! Was there an interview? At what time did you get the email?

The Post below me is there any interview procedure for PhD at UofT?

US undergrad in IR and Math. Canadian MA in Poli Sci. PI and I did not click much during the interview so I am not too bummed about the rejection. Congratulations to everyone who got in! UG GPA: 3.8, MA GPA: 3.72

e-mail from the department chair announcing an upcoming official letter

Days later and I am still shocked by how rude this rejection "letter" was. The letter was very clearly copied-and-pasted, stating that they only admit "highly qualified" applicants. The only area of my application that might not have been "highly qualified" is my publications—I only have one publication (plus one pending). Still, this "reason" does not feel like the real reason my application was rejected and I wish they wouldn't have given ever rejected applicant such a sh*tty blanket reason. I had already been accepted to my top choice, so this rejection wasn't a huge loss. However, this culture of treating grad applicants/students so terribly has to come to an end at U of T eventually... right?! They have such a bad reputation amongst grad students—I really hope this changes as the school has a good reputation (in general) and the name still carries some weight.

TBD: Congratulations to whom accpeted! When did you have an interview? May I ask whok did you interview with?
