Received email to check portal for viewing decision letter. MS ECE (Energy Systems & Power Electronics). My profile: 8.3 GPA, 318 GRE (168Q), 7.5 IELTS, 2 related summer internships, handful of related UG projects, published a research paper and a patent (not exactly relevant to my masters domain though), much related UG research experience with one of my department professors in power converters, and right now working in an EV start-up for ~10 months.

Got a mail to check the status. Rejected, no interview or contact with anyone from dept. This was my safety school. LOL

Had a long interview with my potential POI. He said the process is delayed in almost all the universities due to covid, so it is taking time to make decisions. For me he said, he will rolling decisions within one-week. Our profile(Area: AI hardware) is highly matching and the prof said he is also excited. Hoping for acceptance.

TTPB: TLDR: Don't lose hope just yet. Long answer: I think it is still too early to assume a rejection. Although I know a few people who have received the "Recommended for Graduate Admissions" mail around Feb end, I also know people who received accepted decisions all the way in April, in previous seasons. Moreover I think, this season they received an unusually high number of applications (add to that the 2020 deferments), which probably is the reason behind the processing delay.

Where are the decisions? It was supposed to be out by March 15th as per the email in January but haven't seen any activity here..
