Really unexpected, good luck to all still waiting. Also got the NSF message but very unclear what this means for funding . . . does anyone know?

"I am writing to inform you that we have placed you on a waiting list for admission to the Department of Economics at MIT. Attached is your official letter. We genuinely appreciate your interest in the Department." Does anyone know the possibility of being admitted off the waitlist?

Just received a follow-up email from the department secretary that they hope I decide to attend MIT this fall, not next fall. Great to hear that I don't have to take an involuntary gap-year!

Not a troll. Couldn't believe it. Received the same email as TPB. Funding.

without funding but apparently that's the norm at MIT; they don't announce funding until after NSF has come out

TTPB: Sorry friend, not trolling! Heres the top of the email: On behalf of Prof. Muhamet Yildiz, Admissions Chair Dear xyz, Let me be the first to congratulate you on your admission to the PhD Economics program at MIT. My colleagues and I know that you will have many attractive offers for your graduate studies, but we hope that you will decide to attend MIT next fall. MIT is an exciting and fun place to study economics – I am confident that you would find our department a stimulating environment. Your admission letter is attached. I hope that you will read the letter and visit our website, which should provide answers to many of the questions that you may have about MIT and about our Department...

wasn't expecting this, really stoked! good luck to everyone still waiting and congratulations to all those admitted!

Still in shock, really hope they didn't make a mistake. T5 UG, no RA. No $$$, but letter says they expect me to win an NSF.

Honestly can't believe it.

theoretical computer science, no interview

I heard the admission committee are done with reviewing all the applicants by now and most likley no additional admission offer will be sent out.

TTPB: What subfield?
