They need to sit with UMD and take some lessons from places like TTIS. "Due to high volume of highly qualified applicants, you were rejected". I know you feel I'm not good enough, but at least cuishon the blow? The last thing a student would want along with a rejection mail is being told the fact that they're just not good enough

Sad to get rejected. Will appreciate if anyone who got accepted share his profile.

This was my in a way my last hope. Got the mail to download my letter from the portal. Rejected! I had applied to 10 places and didn't get in anywhere. No idea what to do now. I have a publication in a reputed conference, and other paper still in cycle. I had recommendations from well-known people. I guess GPA matters a LOT. Mine was 3.36/4, basically flunked my first two years of school, and then last two years, I got A's in all my subjects. Still, the overall GPA seemed shitty. Does anyone else feel that this year was particularly tough for theory?

To the post below asking the status of Northwestern. I had mailed the concerned PoI and he told me that I was rejected. I haven't heard back officially from the admissions committee yet. If I were you, I wouldn't get my hopes too high. If it helps, NW was my last hope too :(

to the poster below: the committee has made decisions. If you have not heard yet, I think you were rejected and they will notify rejected ones through April and May.

Why they do not send the results? Any information would be helpful.

"We are hoping departments could make their recommendations soon. If it is an immediate to know situation please contact the department. All contact information for the departments are on their websites." This is what was sent to me when asked about the application status.

Mine is still "Under Review", what do they mean by SPIRE has to update (regarding the post below saying all decisions are made and only update is pending), wouldn't it say "Update Pending" like it seems to have for several other posters below? I really hope this works out and all the best to those who are also in the Under Review gang like I am.

68% in ECE from a Tier-1 college in India. Got rejects from CMU, UIUC, UTA, UCSD, UoT, UBC and GaTech. UCI was the last one remaining. The 'go big or go home' approach payed off. Wish everyone the best.
