This was honestly the nicest semi-bad news I have ever gotten. The email came off as really sincere and I'm hopeful about moving up into the official acceptance pool. 1a/2r/1w/3p

Waitlisted for funding. They said they're going to try to find more funding and notify me by April 1st. If you were accepted, and aren't enrolling, please let them know as this is likely my best and only real offer. Best of luck and congrats to everyone! 0a/5r/3w/3 remaining

'Because of the very unusual circumstances under which we are living at the moment, we are, for the first time, maintaining a Waitlist for admission into the Ph.D. program so that we can better control the size of our incoming class.' Sort of unexpected and fingers crossed. Applied to the fluid dynamics concentration.

Received email from Director of Graduate Studies

TTPB: Sorry for the rejection. What time did you receive the email?

Had nice interview experience and feeling very lucky to remain under consideration. For accepted applicants if you decide not to attend please let them know! Much appreciated!

Theoretical Cosmology

The poster who claims to be involved in the admissions is an obvious troll, do not fall for it. Why would they lie in their e-mail for no reason? Seriously, dude, get a life and stop trying to make people sad. If only the admission process was more transparent, then we would not have to deal with this bs.

Hello! Congrats to the Cornell Admits! If you all don't mind telling me, were any of you accepted into the Joint Soc & PAM PhD or just Soc only? Also, did you receive any funding info? Thanks in advance.

3.8GPA, 1 lead author pub. with contact PI but not really research fit. Not expecting to get accepted. Nice try

TTPB in admissions- on a different note, do you know when accepted students will receive funding info in the mail?

TTPB thanks for the info. But seriously.. what an inconsiderate thing to say. Do you really think saying "Do not be sad if you don't get in. Trust me, it will be better for your mental wellbeing" means anything? It seriously sounds like you are being sarcastic here trying to rub it in people who didn't make it. People spend years working on this application... how the f**k do you expect people to not feel sad when they don't get in.

a nice email

Despite having a nice communication with prospective advisor, my application is rejected. Sad, the application fee amount can feed a family for a half month.

Email telling me to check portal.
