Rejected from PhD accepted to masters. No funding at all for this program, so will probably have to deny because it's way to expensive. Still happy to have been accepted into something.

To the person down me. In response to your questions, I have not accepted any offer, in fact, BCM is my top choice for so many reasons, the interview expositions gave the icing on the cake for me. I did my interview in wave 2, I am believing for a positive response. Thanks for your reply!

Has anyone heard anything back from the department (especially microbiology)? Even interview requests?

Hello! I'm below you (got accepted.) I participated in the first wave of interviews on Jan 23-25th and didn't hear back until February 27th via email from the program director (below): 'Just to let you know that your application is still being considered very seriously as all the faculty members were quite impressed. I hope to have more information by the end of next week. I am hopeful that it will be positive. In the meantime, please let me know your level of interest in joining CPSB and also do let me know if you have already accepted an offer from any other program.' I expressed my interest and received an offer from a couple of days back. I am currently weighing my options right now and will likely accept one of my top offers by early April. I hope you hear good news as well. Cheers!

Four field schools, 3 years of lab experience, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, recommendations from top leaders in this field from my institution (similar in caliber to HEB in terms of research), two senior theses, research conferences, and working 60+ hour workweeks to pay for school. I did all of this despite dealing with a violent assault my sophomore year which has profoundly impacted my every day life. If this wasn't good enough and didn't speak to the quality of applicant I am, I don't know what would have been.

Had pre-application phone calls with 3 faculty (first decided not to take new students for the upcoming year, other was in the process of retiring, and last one was taking students but not a perfect fit). No formal interview.

It is with regret that we write to inform you that you have not been accepted for graduate study at the University of California, Berkeley. The materials you submitted with your application have been carefully reviewed by the admissions committee, but we are unable to offer you admission. The UC Berkeley campus has a strict enrollment ceiling, and we are thus very limited in the number of new students we may admit each year.
