Average undergrad but two MA's at 3.9/4.0 equivalent from top 5 and top 20 institutions in their field (globally). Good contact with a few professors before applying but feedback following rejection made it clear that application was strong but rejection was down to lack of suitable scholars (out of three potentials the one with the regional overlap was retiring whilst two with thematic insight were staying). Disappointed but fair.

Accepted after Interview with POI. BS and MS degree in Physics. 3 years of research experience. Low GRE doesn't matter!!!

Interviewed with a potential advisor. Lots of relevant research, strong letters of rec, 1 paper, not great GRE scores lol. Super excited!
