Did anyone who had CS PhD as their secondary choice get an email?

On behalf of the Graduate Faculty in Computer Science, I regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission to the Ph.D. Program in Computer Science for this year. We had a record number of applicants this year. Since the number of students who can be accepted BLAH BLAH BLAH..... 3rd rejection in a day. Bring it on.

Oh no.

IIT Undergrad. 1 Paper at a national conference. Field ML. One LoR was Prof. from Cornell. One LoR was a top 10 CS School Prof. and One from Thesis Advisor with whom I have paper. All three strong letters. For god's sake, even applied to the collaborator of the Prof. from Cornell. Still got rejected. Grad Admissions this season are horrible.

Kinda early

Area: NLP. Overall machine learning and allied fields seem to have become extremely competitive where people with multiple strong papers, good grades and strong recommendation letters are getting rejected. Very unfortunate.

Can't say I expected it with great certainty, but it makes sense given my current record. Best of luck to everyone else.
