Received an email yesterday saying I was recommended for admission from the department. And received another email today for a formal admission. Happy and grateful! But I'm also looking forward to admissions from my top choices! Background: undergrad in China, 211, math major. curretnly an exchange student in the US. Avg gpa, no jounrals or whatsoever. GRE scores are listed above.

TTPB: Is it a general rejection? I receive nothing...

Reason: Deny - Department denied admission We regret to inform you that your application for Graduate Studies at Simon Fraser University was not approved. The selection was very tightly constrained and many excellent and deserving applicants were denied.

TTPB: The email communication was with Dr. Kimmel, the head of Statistics Graduate Admissions.

Ivy League Domestic with B/B+ in some pretty important math classes lol. No interview

Anyone knows what I should expect for the interview?

TTPB: I emailed Rice a few days ago about the status of my application and I got a reply earlier saying they postponed their virtual visit to Feb 26th and wanted to invite me to attend. However, I hadn't previously heard anything about a virtual visit, so I'm not sure if they would have said anything to me if I hadn't reached out.
