I had good pre-apply Skype as well as on-site interview. I just think they knew they were not my top choice.

Hi everyone, just a PSA to not even waste your time applying to NYU they literally pick who they want before the interviews and even if you change their mind at the interview they will just throw you on a fake waitlist and make you wait until right before the deadline just to reject you (and not even inform you of the waitlist you are on, complete ghosting situation for 3 months). I contacted several people just to inquire about my standing for admission with NO ANSWERS until less than 10 days before the deadline to accept offers. Honestly I received 0 respect from the entire grad administration at NYU and it was a terrible experience

To the poster below: in the same boat as you. A few friends from the same interview weekend as me were literally accepted like a month and a half ago. Don't understand why we haven't heard back yet.

Accepted but turned down the offer. So best of luck to anyone on the waitlist! For future applicants: I had 3 years research experience, worked in 4 labs, 2 published papers (1 first author), and very close research fit with professor.

Still shocked. Applied as a postbac with 3+ years of research experience

Super disappointed. I was next in line on the wait list, but they could only accept 5 this year. Friggen bummer.:/
