I got an offer from another school that requires my decision this week, so I sent an inquiry email to NU and got this: "Thank you for your email and continued interest in the program. At Northwestern, some admission offers have been made. The admission committee is still reviewing applications, but, unfortunately, we will not be able to make you an offer."

Sad, but it was a reach school anyway. First rejection.

Stock message: I'm writing to let you know that the admissions committee has finished the process of evaluating the applications for our 2022 Litowitz MFA+MA class, and I'm sorry to tell you that they are unable to extend you an offer of admission to Northwestern. The number of available spaces in our program was extremely limited, and we've been obliged to turn down many outstanding applicants. The committee appreciated the opportunity to review your credentials, and felt that you deserved a word directly from the department. We wish you all the best in the coming year, and thank you for your application.

Notified by Email, form rejection

The classic "we thought you deserved a word directly from the department." womp womp. also earlier than I was expecting. 0a/1r/7p

I'm not surprised, since this was probably the hardest school on my list. I'm just thankful to have my first decision! Congrats to those who got in, it's a great program! 0a/1r/11p
