The portal says acceptance and only acceptance... should I be worried about not being funded?

Received email from advisor on 1/14 indicating I was accepted with funding still being figured out. Follow up on 2/12 confirmed acceptance. Still have not received official letter, but expected soon. 1 solo author publication, 3 conference poster presentations, frequent sci comm speaker, 10 year history of working in the field. 4.0 Masters GPA, large gap between Masters and UG (~9 years) and 5 year gap between Masters and beginning PhD.

Rejection without interview. MS CGPA-3.53; 6 years research experience, 5 publication

Asked for status update and got this

So excited!

Interviewed a couple of weeks back with two members of the committee. Received an email from the program director regarding admission and the generous funding package. Ecstatic.

Ignore the status. Has anyone heard from final decision of Rutgers? Do you think it's being delayed bc of funding issues / also any thoughts on whether linguistics is immune from the current political turmoil..
