I figured I'd put this here for future candidates: Interviewed at Duke today. My interview, at least, was essentially SoP in interview form: Why are you pursuing PhD? What topics interest you? Why are you applying to Duke? Writing sample questions (including some questions probing criticism) Here's hoping I didn't make a fool of myself! I got the sense that this is a final cut type of interview rather than a vetting of candidates they hoped to accept. But I may be wrong. Posting to give insight because these interviews are relatively new and it's good to have the information out there.

Ignore status. Anyone has any idea what's going on at Duke? They've sent out acceptances almost a month ago but so far no rejections (it seems)?

I was on the waitlist and was told that now all spots are taken. I have no hope left, this process has been so long, it's been so difficult and there is literally nothing at the end of it.

I emailed the the department to ask whether I am rejected or waitlisted. They reply that I am rejected. Well they never send any sort of notification not even an update on the application portal.

Got an email at 2pm. Asked to check the portal. Still cannot believe I'm admitted. Can someone lmk if u also are admitted?

Decision posted on application portal, no email as of now. Still not 100% confident if it is a genuine offer.
