chair's original words: The program is very competitive and, unfortunately, we must turn away many qualified applicants.  And please also keep in mind that, in the decision regarding to whom to extend offers, we must consider multiple factors, including the question of fit with our program.  I regret not having better news to convey, and I wish you well in your future endeavors.  Thank you for your interest in our program.

I have checked my rejection via website. Very tough situation, however still waiting another waitlist.

Ignore. Any word from Binghamton?

Ignore. people are getting rejections from Rutgers but there has been no update on my application status. Should I be expecting a rejection then or ? Is there a hidden waitlist?

"I am writing today to update you on the status of your application to the Philosophy Graduate Program at UCLA. The Admissions Committee read your materials with interest, but I regret to say that we will not be able to offer you a place in our program this year. Many factors enter into our admissions decisions, and this was a particularly competitive year. I hope that you will make a success of your graduate work and that you will accept my best wishes for your future. Sincerely, Calvin Normore Professor and Chair of Admissions Department of Philosophy, UCLA" 0a/2w/17r/3p

It's a miracle. I was officially rejected two weeks ago, but apparently someone made a mistake and put me on the wrong list. This is my first choice by a staggering margin. If you are planning to decline (especially if your AOS is philosophy of mind, philosophy of religion, or metaethics), please do so soon. 2a/6w/13r/0p

Checked portal as well

No email. Checked portal. Shortest rejection message ever "Your application has been reviewed, and the committee has denied admission."

this is your sign to please decline your offer if you're not going. I'd like to go to grad school
